この３年、私は台湾先住民の伝統的な祭りや博物館を訪ねてきました。その中で私はサイシャット族の舞帽とであいました。それは枝と帽子が合体し高さ２メートルもある帽子で、そこは小人が休むところだそうです。帽子は天と人とを結ぶ頭の上にのせるものなので信仰やその土地特有の文化との繋がりが色濃く現れるのだと思います。それらは霊的なものの通り道であったり、宿る場所、生命の根源である太陽へかけようとする橋のようです。わたしは帽子をとおして天と人をつなぐ架け橋を表現したいとおもいました。
For three years I have visited traditional festivals and museums of indigenous Taiwan.
I met Saisiyat tribe’s special hat. Dancing hats(kilakilu) are hats that combine with branches and are 2 meters high. The hat is the place where Dwarf spirits rest. the hat is placed on the head, that connects the heavens and the people. so I think that the connection with the religion and the culture unique to the local area appears strongly. They are passages of spiritual things and cradle of spirit. It is like a bridge trying to reach the sun, the primordial of life.
I use a 南投paper to represent a bridge hat that connects spirit and humans.
